Your First Upload: A Step-by-Step Tutorial

Let's walk through a complete upload process.

Step 1: Open the Add-on

  • Navigate to the menu bar in your Google Sheet and click: Extensions > LinkToDrive > Open LinkToDrive
  • The LinkToDrive sidebar will appear on the right side of your screen.

Step 2: Fill in the Details

You will see three main fields in the sidebar:

  1. URL File: Paste the direct link to the file you want to save. For this example, you can use a sample PDF link like:

    text
    https://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/xhtml/testfiles/resources/pdf/dummy.pdf
  2. File Name: Give your file a name. If you leave this blank, the add-on will try to name it automatically based on the URL. Let's name it My First Upload.pdf.

  3. Folder Destination: This is a list of all the folders in your Google Drive. Click on a folder to select it as the destination. For now, you can select " My Drive (Root)" to save it to the main level of your Drive.

Step 3: Upload the File

With all the fields filled, simply click the blue "Upload File" button at the bottom.

The button will show a loading spinner while it works. Once complete, a success message will appear, and the fields will clear, ready for your next upload.

Congratulations! You've just uploaded your first file directly to Google Drive without downloading it first. You can now go to your Google Drive to see My First Upload.pdf saved in the location you selected.
